Change this # 1 thing to be safer…

…your attitude!

Yep…that’s it. Before you invest time, effort, and resources into becoming safer, you absolutely must get this one and most important thing right. Why?

To tap into the Power of Prudence you will need to constantly evaluate your situation and make choices; some hard and some easy. You will have to weigh the merits of choices such as safer or easier, longer or shorter and cost versus gain . You will be forced to overcome obstacles, such as the objections and doubts of people close to you, and you will need to overcome your own resistance to change.

Sometime after you embark on the journey to a safer and more self-reliant way of life, your attitude will evolve. As you assimilate the principles and apply the methodologies and techniques, you will develop new levels of confidence and decisiveness that will factor into how you view yourself, the world around you, and ultimately your ability to either avoid or overcome a threat or crisis. THAT is a winning attitude.

A winning attitude is often THE decisive factor in whether or not you survive a life-threatening encounter. It does not come automatically, and as I said in The Power of Prudence, there is no hack for it; you must be intentional about your decision to take your safety and security more into your own hands. And you must be intentional in the ways you commit to the effort required to make the journey to a life free from the worry of the wolves of the world. In his book How Successful People Think, John Maxwell wrote, “You can act your way into feeling long before you can feel your way into action. If you wait until you feel like doing something, you will likely never accomplish it.”

It is time to begin acting your way into being safer. Decide to make the choices that will empower you when a crisis appears. Do so by making the commitment to spend a little time each week here on the Power of Prudence and in practicing the principles and techniques we will discuss.

As we begin this journey, use the comments section of the website to tell me about the biggest obstacles you face with changing your attitude or the attitude of those around you. We’ll discuss the most common ones as we begin next week’s blog.

Thanks, and look forward to seeing you here next week!
